PROCEDURE Warm-up – Listen and repeat – Let’s talk – Let’s sing –Homelink Classroom Procedure Teaching and learning activities management Warm-up 7 minutes - Have pupils greet and introduce their names, Whole class e.g. Hi, I’m Lan. - Option 1: Have a group of pupils to sing the chant on page 32 in front of the class. - Option 2: Have a few pupil to point to the picture in sachmem or Poster for Unit 7 and say the sentences, e.g. There’s a ___. - Option 3: Let two or three pupils point to the pictures in Listen and tick (p.32) and say the sentences, e.g 1a: There’s a garden. 1b: There’s a gate. - Get pupils to open their books and look at Lesson 3 p.33 (saying Open the books and look at Lesson 3, please!). 6. Say Look at Whole class Picture a, please!. Point to the garden and ask them What is this? The pupils may answer. Tell them to introduce a garden, saying “There’s a garden”. Ask pupils to point to Picture a and say “There’s a Step 3: garden” in chorus, saying Let’s point to Picture a Individual work and say, please! Correct pronunciation, if necessary. Explain the meaning of the sentence and how it is used. Check comprehension. Step 2: Play the recording several times for pupils to repeat Individual work the verse, line after line, to make sure that they can sing the verse correctly. Whole class - Ask pupils to sing the song in Unit 7, Lesson 3 and make some gesture of a girl and a goat when singing. - Have some pupils demonstrate the song in front of the class, the rest of the class listen to them and clap hands. Option 2: Review of Unit 7. - Ask pupils open their workbooks on page 24. Pair work - Have them do Activity 7, Unit 7 in pairs. Then select some pupils and ask them to show their colouring and say the words aloud. Option 3: Game Pass the Card. - Place pupils in 4 rows. - Hand out picture cards of a goat, a girl, a garden and a gate Group work to the first pupil in each row. - Have pupils in each row name the item/ person on each card as they pass the card to the classmate behind them. 1. Listen and repeat. 10 minutes Step 1: Have pupils look at the picture, saying Look at the picture, Whole class please! and describe the picture. Draw pupils’ attention to the letter H/h, the words next to the animal, parts of the body and the colour of the letter H/h. Check comprehension. Ask pupils to point to the letter H/h. Have them listen and Step 2: repeat the sound of the letter H/h (saying Listen and repeat, Individual work please!) more than once, if necessary. Tell pupils to point to the girl’s hair and the word hair (saying Point to the hair and the word “hair”!. Ask them to listen and repeat the word (saying Listen and repeat, please!). Fun Word Game 8 minutes corner: Step 1: Explain how to play the game, saying Listen to the teacher Whole class saying a sound and choose the words that contain that sound.
