- Lesson plan: Grade 1 Preparing date: December 8, 2022 Week: 15 Period: 29 Unit 8. In the park Lesson 2 I. By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: OBJECTIVES - say the letter H/h, the words hand, head, hat, hair and the phrases containing /h/ and hand, head, hat, hair in a chant. - listen and identify the words hand, horse. - trace the letter H/h. II. INPUT Language: - Sound /h/ - Vocabulary: hair, hand, head, horse, hat - Phrases with the sound /h/ and the words hair, hand, head, hat, horse Resources/Material: - Student’s book p. 35 - sachmem.vn - Teacher’s guide pp. 83-85 - Workbook p.25-26 - Computer, projector III. Warm-up – Listen and chant – Listen and tick – Look PROCEDURE and trace – Homelink Classroom Procedure Teaching and learning activities management Warm-up 5 minutes Option 1: Individual Ask two or three pupils to look at the picture in Lesson 1 work (Student’s book or sachmem) and say the sound of the letter H/h and the words hair, hand, head and horse. Option 2: Have pupils play The Word Game again, using the words Whole class learnt in the previous lessons. Option 3: Get pupils to play What’s Missing Game, using the pictures and flashcards with the incomplete words _air, _and, _ead and _orse. Pupils should guess the missing letter and say the Whole class words correctly. 3. Listen and chant. 10 minutes Step 1: Have pupils look at the chant, saying Look at the chant, Whole class please! Draw pupils’ attention to the first verse and explain its meaning. Ask them to pay attention to the letter H/h and the words Hoa, head, hair. Check comprehension. Play the recording of the first verse for pupils to listen and Step 2: to get familiarized with the rhythm, saying Listen to the first Whole class

Listen and tick. 7 minutes Step 1: Have pupils look at the pictures and say what they can see, Whole class saying Look at the pictures in Question 1, please! What can you see? Can you see a head and a hand? Yes, a head and a hand. Draw pupils’ attention to the boxes next to the letters a and b. Check comprehension. Invite some pupils to point to the pictures and say the words Step 2: in front of the class, saying Point to the pictures and say, please! E.g.: 1a. a head, 1b. a hand. Individual work Before playing the recording, saying Are you ready? OK, now listen to the recording, please! Play the recording twice or Step 3: more if needed, ask pupils to listen and tick the correct boxes. Whole class Set a time limit for pupils to swap and check the answers. Correct the answers, if necessary. Call a few pupils to the front of the class to point to the Pair work Step pictures and say what they have heard. 4: Audio script: 1. It’s a hand. 2. It’s a horse. Individual Answers: 1. b 2. a. work Step 5: 5. Look and trace. 8 minutes Step Have pupils look at the letter H (upper case) and h (lower Whole class 1: case). Write the letter upper case H and the lower case h on the board. Point to the upper case H and say This is the upper
- case of the letter h. Then point to the lower case h and say And this is the lower case of the letter h. Make sure pupils recognize the two forms of the letter. Write the letter upper case H and the lower case h in broken lines on the board, saying Look at the board. What can you Whole class Step 2: see now? Yes, you can see the upper case H. Can you see the lower case h? Check to make sure pupils understand the letters written in solid lines and those in broken lines. Tell pupils to use their pencils to trace the letter H/h. You can demonstrate by air tracing or tracing the broken line of the letter H/h on the board. Then let pupils do the tracing. Give Individual Step 3: further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the work task. Ask pupils to work in pairs and swap their tracing, saying Now work in pairs and check each other’s answer. Pair work Step 4: Give pupils time to work. Go around and offer help, if necessary. Ask some pupils to show what they have done. Praise them if they have done well, saying You did very well! - For weaker pupils, have them do Activity 3, Unit 8 in their workbooks. Individual Step 5: work - For better pupils, have them do Activity 4, Unit 8 in their workbooks. Individual Extension: work Homelink 5 minutes Option 1: Have pupils listen to the recording, then say the Whole class chant again. Option 2: Ask pupils to look at the pictures in Whole class 4. Listen and tick. and say about them, e.g. a hand, a head, a hat, ... Encourage advanced pupils to use learnt structures e.g. It’s a hand; I have a hat., ... Warm-up – Listen and repeat – Let’s talk – Let’s sing – Homelink PROCEDURE Classroom Procedure Teaching and learning activities management Warm-up 5 minutes Option 1: Whole class - Have pupils listen to the recording, then sing the chant on page 35. - Select some better pupils to sing the chant in front of class. The class listens to them and claps hands along. Option 2: - Show pupils pictures/slides of the things/animal they have learnt in Lesson 1. Whole class - Ask them to recall and name the things/animal, pointing to the pictures/slides. Option 3: - Invite one or two pupils write the letter H/h on the board. - Get pupils to say words that contain the sound of the letter H/h. Individual work 6. Listen and repeat. 5 minutes Step 1: Have pupils look at the picture of a girl touching her hair, Whole class saying Look at the picture, please. Then ask pupils to look at the sentence, saying Look at the sentence “Touch your hair.”, please! Explain the meaning of the sentence and how it is used. Check comprehension. Play the recording several times for pupils to listen and Step 2: repeat the sentence in chorus, saying Now listen and repeat, Whole class please! Invite a few pupils to listen and repeat the sentence “Touch

Tell them that it is hair, saying It’s hair. Follow the same procedure with other pictures in the activity. Step 2: Ask pupils to use the structure in the bubble “Touch your Whole class _____.” and Picture a (hair) to express a command, e.g. Touch your hair. Get them to repeat the sentence several times individually and in chorus. Check comprehension. Follow the same procedure with the other pictures in this Step 3: activity. Make sure pupils understand the structure “Touch Pair or group your _____.” and say it with the right pronunciation and work intonation. Encourage pupils to use gestures, face expressions, when saying the sentence. Ask pupils to work in pairs or in groups to practise expressing a command, saying Now look at the picture and Step 4: say, please! Give further support to those pupils who find it Whole class difficult to do the task. Select some pairs of pupils to practise expressing a command in front of the class. Praise them, saying Fantastic! or Superb!, Step 5: if they performed well. Group work Devide class into four groups. Have pupils play Simon says Game, using the commands “Touch your ____.” Extension: 8. Let’s sing. 10 minutes Step 1: Have pupils look at the lyrics to get familiarized Whole class themselves with the first verse of the song. Say Now look at the lyrics of the first verse, please! Play the recording several times for pupils to repeat line after line to make sure that they can sing the verse correctly, saying Listen and repeat, please! Check comprehension. Have pupils look at the lyrics to get familiarized Step 2: themselves with the second verse of the song. Play the Whole class recording several times for pupils to repeat to make sure that they can sing the verse correctly. Check comprehension. Have pupils listen to the whole song, drawing their Step 3: attention to the pronunciation, the stress, and the melody Whole class of the song.
- Let pupils practise singing the song. Help them sing the Step 4: song sentence by sentence first. Then help them to sing the Group work whole song. If there is time, let them sing the song several Individual work times until they feel confident. Select some groups to the front of the class to sing the song or ask some pupils to sing the song individually. The Group work Step 5: class may sing along and clap hands. Praise them when they performed well, saying You have done well! or Not bad! Practise two-part singing. Devide the class into two groups and ask each group to sing one part of the song. Extension: Homelink 5 minutes - Revise the main teaching point of the lesson - the structure Whole class Touch your ____. to express a command. Option 1: - Ask pupils to draw a picture of a girl or a boy and label Individual work some parts of the body that they have learnt (hair, head, hand). Pair/Group - Have pupils to work in pairs/groups: one says a work command using Touch your ______, the others do the action. Option 2: Have pupils do Activity 6, Unit 8 in their Individual work workbooks. Individual work Option 3: Show pupils the lyrics of the song with some missing words, e.g.: Your head and your ______. Your _____ and your hair. _______ your head. _______ your hair. Then ask some advanced pupils to guess the missing words and sing the complete song aloud. D. - Week: 15 Period: 57 Unit 9: Colours Lesson 1 (4, 5, 6) A. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - listen to and demonstrate understanding of simple exchanges related to the topic “Colours” - read and write about colours of school things. - Vocabulary: Review - Skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. 2. Competences: - Written Communication: complete the sentences. - Self-control and independent learning: perform listening tasks. - Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups. 3. Attitude/ Qualities: - Kindness: Help partners to complete learning tasks. - Honesty: tell the truth about feelings and emotions. - Diligence: complete learning tasks. B. Elicit and model with picture 1 + Ask Ss to read the sentence 1 in chorus. + Ask Ss what word is missing in the gap (yellow).
