  1. Lesson plan: Grade 1 Preparing date: April 6, 2023 Week: 30 Period: 59 FUN TIME 4 I. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: - say the letters, sounds and words they have learnt with correct pronunciation II. INPUT Language: - Sounds /n/ (letter n) and /t/ (letter t) - Vocabulary: bananas, noodles, nuts, top, teddy bear, tiger, turtle Resources/Material: - Student’s book p.63 - Teacher’s guide pp.155-156 - Sachmem.vn - Flashcards with the pictures of the words from Units 13 and 14 - Computer, projector Procedure Teaching and learning activities Classroom management Warm-up 5 minutes Option 1: Revising the sounds and words - Write the letters n and t on the boards. Have Whole class pupils say the letter names and the letter sounds. - Stick some flashcards including some pictures of the Individual work words from Units13 and 14 on the board. Have pupils play Kim’s game in three minutes. Option 2: Singing the chant - Ask pupils to sing the chants in Unit 13 and Unit Whole class 14 together. Have them stand and clap their hands when they sing. - Lead to Activity 1, Fun time 2. 1. Trace and colour. Then say. 13 minutes Step 1 Have pupils look at the pictures and explain what to do. You Whole class can model with one picture. Step 2 Ask pupils to trace and colour the pictures. Say Now trace and Whole class colour the pictures, please! Go around to offer help, if Individual work necessary. Step 3 Have pupils work in pairs to compare their work and practise Pair work saying the words.   2. Key: 1. top, teddy bear 2. turtle, tiger Extension After the pupils have finished the above activity, divide the Whole class class into two teams. Call one pupil from each team to go to Group work the board. Read out a word for these pupils to write the word down. Pupils from each team take turns to go to the board and write the words. Give a point for each correct word. 2. Let’s play: Mystery bag. 12 minutes Step 1 Have pupils look at the picture. Explain the rules of the game: Whole class Teacher gives a mystery bag having letter cards (the letters can be all the letters the pupils have learnt or the letters from Unit 13 to Unit 14). Pupils play this game in teams. One pupil from each team picks up a letter card from teacher’s mystery bag. He/She reads the letter aloud, and then says a word which includes that letter. Step 2 Divide the class into two big teams. Call one representative Group work from each team to the board. Ask him/her to pick up one letter card from the bag and read aloud the letter. Then say a word that includes the letter. If he/she is correct, his/her team gets 1 point. The team with more points is the winner. Step 3 Keep record of the stars/points for each team. Announce the Whole class winning team. Extension With a better class, after the pupils become experts at the Whole class game, you can increase the difficulty by using all of the letters pupils have learnt from the beginning of the academic year. It is a good chance for them to revise the letters and words learnt. Homelink 5 minutes

  4. Option 1: Singing the song in Unit 14, Lesson 3. Whole class - Ask pupils to sing the song in Unit 14, Lesson 3 and make some gesture when singing (e.g. gesture of a boy holding a teddy bear). - Have some pupils demonstrate the song in front of the class, the rest of the class listen to them and clap hands along. Option 2: Reviewing Unit 14. Pair work - Ask pupils to open their workbooks on Page 45. - Have them do Activity 7, Unit 14 in pairs. Then select some pupils and ask them to show their colouring and say the sentence aloud. Option 3: - Let pupils play Find the odd one out, using the words they have learnt in Unit 14 and the previous units. Whole class 1. Listen and repeat. 10 minutes Step 1: Have pupils look at the picture, saying Look at the picture, Whole class please! and describe it. Draw pupils’ attention to the letter F/f, the words next to the person, the things and the colour of the letter F/f. Check comprehension. Ask pupils to point to the letter F/f. Have them listen to the Step 2: recording and repeat the sound of the letter F/f saying Point to Individual work the letter F/f, listen and repeat, please! Tell pupils to point to the boy’s face and the word face, saying Point to the boy’s face and the word “face”, please! Play the recording again and call a few pupils to say the letter F/f Step 5: and the words face, father, foot and football in front of the class, Individual work saying Excellent! or Fantastic! when they performed well. Step 6: Language note: The word football can refer to: - a game played between two teams, where each team tries to win by kicking a ball into the other team’s goal. - a large ball made of leather or plastic and filled with air, used in games of football. Individual work For better pupils, let them play Jumbled letters using the new Extension: vocabulary. Then ask them say the words aloud.
  5. 2. Point and say. 7 minutes Step 1: Have pupils look at the picture again, saying Look at the picture Whole class again, please! Ask them to describe it. Draw their attention to the letter F/f and the words they have learnt in 1. Listen and repeat. Step 2: Individually, get them to point to the letter F/f and say it, saying Individual work Point to the letter F/f and say it, please! Let them point to the boy’s face and say the word face as a Individual work Step 3: model, saying Point to the face and say “face” please! Remind them of the sound of the letter f in the word face. Then ask one pupil to point to the face and to say the word face in front of the class. Check comprehension. Follow the same procedure with other things/person. Give Whole class further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the Step 4: task. Ask pupils to work in pairs or in groups to look at the picture, Group/ point to the letter F/f and the person/things, say the sound of Pair work Step 5: the letter and the words, saying Point to the picture and say, please! Go around and offer help or correct pronunciation, if necessary. Invite a few pupils to point to the picture and say the sound of the letter and the words in front of the class. If they performed Individual work well, praise them, saying Perfect! Step 6: Fun corner: Missing flashcard 8 minutes Step 1: Explain how to play the game Missing flashcard, saying Now, let’s Whole class play the game Missing flashcard. Look at the flashcards/pictures, say the words. Then close your eyes and I will take away one card. Then open your eyes and say out the word for that card. Divide the class into four groups. Stick a lexical set of four cards on the board, e.g., a pencil, a pen, Group work Step 2: a book, a bag. Step 3: Ask the first group to look at the cards and name the things illustrated on the cards. Ask the group to close their eyes for 10 Group work seconds, then take out a card of the set. Then let pupils open their eyes and say out the word for that card. Each group plays two or three sets. Step 4: Stick sets of flashcards/pictures on the board and do the same with other groups. Give one point for each correct answer. Step 5: Count the points for each group and announce the winner. Option 1: Using sachmem, have pupils look at the things in the picture in Individual work 1. Listen and repeat. and repeat the words after the recording. Option 2: Using Poster for Unit 15, ask pupils to point to the picture and Individual work say the words. For better pupils, teacher may cover the words and ask them to point to the things/person and say aloud the words. Option 3: Individual Using pictures and flashcards, get some pupils to match the work/Whole words face, father, foot, football and the pictures. Then ask the class class to say the words aloud. D. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - read and understand a passage about toys. – read, understand and complete a paragraph about toys that Lucy has. – revise the target language by making paper toys and talking about them to the class. - Vocabulary: Review - Skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. 2. Competences: - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. - Self-control and independent learning: perform reading tasks. 3. Attitude/ Qualities: - Kindness: Help partners to complete learning tasks. - Honesty: tell the truth about feelings and emotions.
