  4. • Look at the picture. • Do you like it? • I love it. RULE: We link words ending with a consonant sound to words beginning with a vowel sound Examples + Stand up + Get up
  5. SITUATION 1 For breakfast For lunch and dinner What will happen to Nam?
  6. SITUATION 2 How is the price of traveling? 2 years ago Now The price of traveling becomes/is becoming more and more expensive.
  7. Example It is becoming harder and harder to find a good job.
  8. Example The bigger the supermarket is, the wider the choice is.
  9. • Look at exercise 1, page 146 in the textbook. • Example: 1-c Finding a job is becoming more and more difficult. • Work in pairs to match half- sentences 2-5.
  10. • Read Exercise 2 on pages 146-147 in the textbook. • Examples: + The cost of living is very high. It has become (high)  higher and higher • Work individually, completing the first 4 sentences.
  11. Work in pairs: Combine two sentences, using the structure the + comparative, the + comparative. 1. I live far. I feel homesick. The farther I live, the more homesick I feel.
  12. 4.You practice English much. You speak it fluently. The more you practice English, the more fluently you speak it.
  13. 3. You work hard. You earn much money. The harder you work, the more money you earn.
  14. 6. I have to wait long. I get angry. The longer I have to wait, the angrier I get.
  15. Work in groups of 3 or 4, write some sentences about the changes of the city by comparing the pictures, using the 2 structures of double comparison you have just learnt. Short adj/adv: adj/adv-er and adj/adv-er Long adj/adv: more and more + adj/adv Short adj/adv: the adj/adv-er, the adj/adv-er. Long adj/adv: the more + adj/adv, the more + adj/adv.
  16. • Write about: people, transportations, schools, pollution, streets, markets, etc. • Some adjectives: crowded, modern, wide, clean, polluted, etc. • Example: The street is wider and wider.
